You know that lunchbox at the back of the fridge that nobody really dares to open because no one remembers what's in it – or when the food was cooked? It's a pretty common everyday problem.
I got tired of the guessing game and started looking for a simple way to label lunchboxes and jars at home. I already had a chalk marker, but the labels I found were often too big, came off in the dishwasher, or simply didn't fit well on regular lunchboxes.
So, I made my own!
The result was durable chalkboard labels in sizes that actually work on lunchboxes and jars used in real daily life. Write with a chalk marker, wipe clean with a damp cloth, and reuse them again and again when the contents change.
The small detail that saves leftovers
One of my favorite variations is the labels with weekday dots. Because how many times have you stood there trying to remember:
"When did we have that sausage stew again? How old can this food be? From Monday... or last week?"
The labels with weekday dots have small markings at the bottom corresponding to the seven days of the week. With a small mark next to the weekday when the leftovers were put in the box, you can immediately see how old it is when you hold it in your hand a few days later. A simple detail, but very nice to have in a stressful everyday life or whenever you prefer to get a straight answer to the question of the age of the leftovers without risking sticking your nose into something fuzzy!
